Tom Rust
Tom Rust Jr. manages the overall operations of Rust Construction. He is drawn to construction because of his love for problem solving and building things. You’ll find him involved in the day to day design and management of projects. When he’s not working, his happy place is the beach or backpacking somewhere with good sized mountains. Tom lives with his family in Old Town Alexandria.
Sam Rust
Vice President
Sam manages projects and handles new project development. He started working at Rust Construction when he was four years old, picking up nails on job sites for a penny each. Sam is motivated by challenges, good stories, and spending time with his friends and family. When not at work, you can find him doing something exciting, ideally outside. He lives with his wife and daughter in Washington, DC.
Kimhy Taing
Senior Carpenter
Kimhy joined Rust Construction in 2002 and has over 25 years of carpentry experience. As a master carpenter, Kimhy is an expert in every aspect of carpentry, though he specializes in finished carpentry. Kimhy hails from Cambodia, but moved to Northern Virginia in 1995, where he started working in the construction industry. He speaks Khmer, English, and French. Currently, Kimhy lives with his wife and three children in Virginia.
Mandal Yunden
Lead Carpenter
An aficionado of all things timeless and historic, Mandal emigrated to the United States from Mongolia in 2009. He mastered his trade working on high profile restoration jobs in the DC area. Today, as a lead carpenter, he works hands-on to make sure that our projects become classics in their own right. A former mixed-martial arts competitor in Mongolia, Mandal lives with his wife and two boys in Virginia.
Elijah Price
Senior Tradesman
For over 40 years, Elijah has been a constant presence at Rust Construction. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Elijah’s patient and supportive personality has shaped the culture of the company for generations of employees. Elijah’s good humor and hard work set the tone for everyone’s experience. Elijah grew up in South Carolina before family connections brought him to the DC area, where he eventually found work at Rust Construction. Today, Elijah lives with his wife in Maryland.
Gyana Lopez
Manager, Office & Operations
Gyana manages the back end of Rust Construction and supports projects. Without Gyana, the books would be a mess, clients wouldn’t get billed, and nobody would get paid. She keeps us all running smoothly. Gyana is originally from Bolivia and comes from a family of entrepreneurs and tradespeople. Outside of work, Gyana teaches English classes to new immigrants around the DC area.
Bob Hacala

Bob is originally from West Virginia but has spent the better part of three decades working on homes as a carpenter in Northern Virginia with Cub Run Builders. Bob lives with his wife and daughter in Del Ray, Alexandria.

Isaias Hernandez

Isaias is originally from Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, where he apprenticed as a mason and built a house for his family. After emigrating to the US in the early 2000s, Isaias further developed his carpentry skills working for Cub Run Builders in Alexandria. Today, he is a highly skilled craftsman with many talents, including finished carpentry, framing, and tile work. Isaias lives in Arlington and spends his free time hiking and listening to music.

Indira Zeballos
Administrative Assistant

Indira was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil to Bolivian parents and emigrated to the States when she was 10 years old. Indira studied interior design and has a passion for the arts. At Rust Construction Indira handles accounts receivable and accounts payable, as well as supports marketing and design work. When not at work, she loves side cooking for family and friends and attending local arts events with her daughter.
