We brought our client’s vision for a contemporary pied-à-terre to life in Old Town Alexandria’s iconic Elks Club building.
We gutted the condo and completely overhauled the electrical and plumbing systems. We removed the existing floors, which were over four inches out of level in some areas, repaired the floor joists, and added sound insulation in the floors and walls. We added a steel beam to open up the kitchen and bedroom to the main living/entertainment area and created more usable space on the loft level by expanding the loft floor and raising the ceiling.
Other features include a steam shower, color-changing LED lights, gloss-finished wainscoting, and phase-changing glass (which goes between clear and opaque at the flip of a switch) between the loft bedroom and the main living space.
