Swann-Daingerfield House

Project Overview

This historical renovation project involved a collaboration between Darryl Carter Interior Design, Karen Becker Architects, and Rust Construction to restore a historic home in Old Town, Alexandria. Originally constructed in 1802, the renovation involved a significant reconfiguration to restore the home to its original layout and was completed in multiple phases.

The first phase of the project involved updates to the first floor with a new kitchen, office, entrance hall, living spaces, dining areas, and bathrooms. The second floor revamp included a primary suite with a spacious bath and dressing room, two additional bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The third floor comprises two bedrooms with a shared bathroom.

In renovation’s second phase, we transformed the basement into a fantastic space that includes an entertainment room, a guest suite and bathroom, convenient laundry facilities, plenty of storage, and even a wine cellar.

Custom modifications included transforming antique furniture into vanities and crafting custom cabinets, millwork, and doors throughout the residence.
