Rust Construction was a proud sponsor of the 2024 Alexandria Turkey Trot 5 Miler – a mercifully flat course that runs down Commonwealth and Mount Vernon Avenues in Del Ray, Alexandria. Many Rust Construction colleagues, friends and family ran in the race. The cold drizzle and overcast skies on Thanksgiving morning did not deter us. Sadly, none of us won. There is always next year, and the chance that we will someday convince a professional running to join our team – Are there any professional runners capable of a sub-4:36-mile, at five miles in under 23 minutes (this year’s winning time) who are also good carpenters, project managers, designers, or just really into designing and building stuff? We are hiring!
Perhaps the highlight of the race were our snazzy Rust Construction shirts we had specially made: a picture of a turkey wearing a tool belt & the phrase “Our Carpenters Aren’t Chicken,” which is factually true.
In any case, thank you to everyone who helped us out, ran the race, and cheered on the runners. The Alexandria Turkey trot is not only a great way to start Thanksgiving Day, but it also is a great charity event that supports the charity organization ALIVE in their efforts to provide food & other essential supplies to Alexandria individuals & families in need.
